Count

How many bed bug interceptors your home needs

Count the legs, add the sofas and chairs, and the calculator picks the packs that cover them with the fewest spare cups.

6 cups

One 8-pack covers it, with two to spare.

Square or wide legs need XL cups: measure the foot of the leg before you buy.

Where the count comes from

A cup goes under each leg of each bed, which is how the EPA and Texas A&M place them. Texas A&M counts a minimum of twelve to monitor a typical two-bedroom apartment: four per bed, and two per sofa and recliner.

If watching for bed bugs matters more than protecting a bed, Texas A&M notes that two cups per bed are enough.

Count every leg

Queen and king frames often have a center rail with one or two extra feet, and some have more. Each foot that touches the floor needs a cup, or a bug walks up the one that has none.

Keep the bed an island

The cups only work if the legs are the only way up. Pull the bed a few inches from the wall, keep the nightstand off the frame, and tuck the bedding so nothing touches the floor.
