A monitor watches the spots a cup cannot

A cup only works under a leg. A monitor goes where there is no leg: along a headboard, beside a nightstand, under a sofa skirt, on the floor of a closet. It tells you something is moving there, which is often the first sign.

Glue boards catch what walks across them, and lure monitors add a scent to draw bugs in. Neither protects a bed on its own, so they sit next to the cups rather than instead of them.

Questions

Questions about bed bug monitors

Will a Bed Bug Blocker monitor protect your bed?

No. A monitor shows that something is moving where it sits. Texas A&M notes that a small monitor does not protect a bed. Cups under the legs do.

Where should you place a bed bug monitor?

Where bugs walk but no leg stands: beside the headboard, under the sofa skirt, by a nightstand, in a closet corner.
